Description

:

Myanmar Triumph International Ltd. is a garment factory being a subsidies of Triumph International Overseas Ltd. that produces ladies’ wear and clothes. The regional management section in Hong Kong holds the total operation over its 24 branches around Asia including Myanmar.

Firstly, I joined the company as an EDP operator in the EDP department and promoted to the Technical Support position. The main duty of the work contains daily maintenance of Unix database server, Email server, local intranet server, Novell file server and end user support. MRP (Material Requirement Planning) system was implemented for their production using IBM RS6000 hardware and 64 bit AIX Unix system. It covers the tracking of the process from the assignment of customer orders up to the delivery of goods. The database runs on Micro Focus Application Server with Cobol object compiler. Daily job contains server startup, shutdown, data integrity checking, backup to the tape drive (in daily, weekly, monthly basic), maintenance of PCs and end user supporting (Microsoft Office, Email, Web, Printing).

Other duties include local intranet web administration, print server administration, user control, access right, generating user’s on-demand reports, ad-hoc database tasks, program patching and updating, scheduling and organizing for updated virus patterns. Company setuped the Email server using Redhat 7.2 and EDI system to export/import data among various Triumph centers. I was responsible for logging and process monitoring to keep alive. MuCAD pattern plotting, Coupon and Barcode printing have also to be managed and troubleshooted.

Inventory control of computer assets and stock management has been taken in coordinating with the other staffs in the EDP department.

Other activities include upgrading AIX version 4.2 to 4.3, upgrading Novell version 4.12 to 5.1, Antivirus protection scheme, year-end stock taking, Y2k contingency plan. There are over 60 PCs, 1 database server, 1 file server, 1 email server and 2 line printers in Myanmar Triumph International Ltd.

Description

Myanmar Computer Company Ltd., MCC, is a major distributor of computer parts and accessories in Myanmar. It is also an authorized dealer of Compaq computer. Its customers include many government organizations, private companies and international hotels. The software development team produces many customized user-oriented software with database and web technology. And MCC provides the training classes on various IT fields and business industry.

I worked as the System and Service Engineer, mainly responsible for setting up PCs and networks. Daily jobs contain software installation, assembling the PC’s parts, repairing the computers, printers and the after-sale service for the customers. The training classes run with 4 networks using Netware 4.11, Windows NT4 and to be supervised for any necessary technical support.

And in the process of joint coordinating with the Malaysia company, Computer Protocol, took part in the installation of routers and multiplexers (CPMux brand) on the remote-access project of Myanma Post Telecommunication. For the hotel projects (Trader’s Hotel, Sedona Hotel, Hotel Equatorial, Inya Lake Hotel, Golden Butterfly), we made Ethernet cabling and network installation over multi-floor, multi-building including fiber-media and setuped PCs over 100 network points.
